Why use Dry Stone Masonry?
Dry stone masonry walls are the most durable and long-lasting structures on Earth. This fine craft has been alive for as long as humanity and has remained virtually unchanged for thousands of years. Dry stone masonry refers to a building method by which structures are created from stones with no mortar to bind them together. Dry stone structures are stable because of their unique construction method, which is characterized by a load-bearing facade of tightly fit, interlocking stones. Stones are placed lengthwise into the wall and all void spaces are tightly wedged with smaller bits of packing stones to make a solid structure held together by friction and gravity.
Water drainage is never a problem with properly built dry stone walls. This mortar-less construction method leaves no water trapped within the wall. Instead, the wall
naturally percolates water through itself which helps keep the stones dry and intact.
     The overall
cost of a natural dry stone wall is very comparable to inferior pressed concrete building methods and they last ten times longer.  Dry stone walls are constructed using stone from local resources and is 100% recyclable, making it a very sustainable building practice.

Dry stone walls are very durable and virtually maintenance free when properly constructed by a
Certified Professional Dry Stone Mason.
